The authors have finally been revealed at the [livejournal.com profile] dw_cross ficathon. Go, enjoy and leave lots of lovely reviews.

I recced a few of these already, and there were a few more I thought should be recced, but never got around to it.

My contribution is here: Cresit Eundo (it grows as it goes) - a TW/DW cross with Mag7. Well, it's really a Jack and Chris piece, which I totally have to thank [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7 for the super fast last minute beta on this.

~!~

On another topic, does anyone think I should do a masterlist of fics I've written? I've been scrounging around through other people's LJs these past few weeks, and find them helpful when it comes to finding series and new stories, but these are mostly in a single fandom. Seeing as I'm all over the place fandom-wise, would this be useful? Or should I just stick with the current system, which involves tagging and the occasional update of my website? (Which I will get around to whenever I have time.)

Well, now that [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon 2008 is here, I thought I'd rec some of the amazing stories I've read over the past 2 days.

Do I really need to warn about rampant death and destruction in every single story?

Danse Macabre by [livejournal.com profile] valderys - Torchwood (Ianto/Jack - NC-17)
This is a day in the life of Ianto Jones and takes place after season 2. I like the format of this story - how Ianto marks his day by the precise time of each task and objective. The format is also a tool showing Ianto's coping mechanism for the end of the world. The apocalypse is subtle at the beginning, and explained more at the end. It's a very slow moving piece, but well worth the read.

This is What Happened by [livejournal.com profile] whitetower - Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
Again, this is another story with a unique format. I really liked this one, especially the way the author captured Sarah's decision making process. This is a zombie apocalypse, and in true Terminator fashion, has the Connor's being general badasses like normal (no Derek, unfortunately). The Skynet storyline gets pulled into this as well, and though I think it just makes everything more complicated, it's interesting to read.

Migratory Birds by [livejournal.com profile] nekare - Supernatural/X-men movieverse
This is a story of two brothers, on different sides of a war. Sam and Dean fight, but for different reasons and for different sides. This is an AU of Supernatural, but works well with Sam and Dean's characterizations. I like how the two universes are crossed, and how the characters' interactions feel real.

My TiVO Gets Me by [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust - The Daily Show/The Colbert Report (JS/SC - PG-13)
I don't usually read fanfic about either of these shows (with the exception of the Colbert/Harry Potter one that had me snorting water out my nose), but the first line of this caught my attention before I could delete it from my inbox:

To everyone's surprise, Our Robot Overlords did absolutely nothing to stifle the news.

It goes on from there, with a TiVO underground and a crying Anderson Cooper....and if you can ignore the small mentions of Jon/Steven slash, you'll probably enjoy this.

That's all for now. I still haven't gone through any of the Firefly fics yet, so there still may be some more. I also posted my own fic, a Burn Notice apocalypse. However, since I had trouble finishing it on time, I only posted the unbetaed version. When I get around to polishing it up some more, I'll post it here.

Enjoy!

Have you been sorely missing your favourite show now that it's been cancelled/ended? Do you lament the fact that there isn't enough fic being written in that fandom? Especially as it's an awesome show that deserves to be remembered?

If you answered yes - or even now - head on over to [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolfic for..well....old school fics. Er, sorta. It's a ficathon, but based solely on shows that are no longer being produced. There really aren't any limits in the list fandoms you can request/offer to write in, except for those that have huge LJ presences (ie. HP, LoTR, etc). Which, I think, is fair. This ficathon is for the fandoms that have gotten smaller over the years.

So, if you want to write/request something in Dark Angel, Buffy, Angel, Battlestar Galactica (classic), Kindred: The Embraced, Alias, Profiler, Pretender, Roswell, Dawson's Creek, The OC, Party of Five or any of the dozen other fandoms there, go sign up and make this a wonderful ficathon. (Though I am deeply saddened by the lack of M7 in the list.)

You can sign up until May 20th [here]. There is also a list of offered/requested shows to help you remember what hasn't been on in awhile, [here].

I signed up for 2 fic-a-thons in the past week. I know I said I wasn't going to, but I did these two last year and enjoyed them.

The first:

[livejournal.com profile] dw_cross - where you can crossover Doctor Who (any), Torchwood and SJA with any show, pretty much. Last year I pumped out two (my assignment plus a pinch hit), Thy Be Suspect (NCIS) and Someone to Watch Over Me.

If you're interested, head on over and sign up -> [here]

The second:

[livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon - where you take a nice, normal show/movie/book fandom and introduce it to the apocalypse. Last year's effort resulted in the start of the New World series where the NCIS world is destroyed when the Yellowstone caldera blows. It also resulted in my requested fic It's Already Tomorrow in Australia (or Win Some, Lose Some, H7, N1) by [livejournal.com profile] amanda_r which is an awesome plague apocalypse in Dead Like Me.

If you're interested in joining the world-ending fun, sign-ups are still going on -> [here]

That is all. :)

Finally, the [livejournal.com profile] dw_cross authors have been revealed. You can see the entire masterlist [HERE].

My contributions are here:

Thy Be Suspect - NCIS/DW/TW
It has Captain Jack and Gibbs facing off, with cameo appearances by Rose and the Doctor (Ninth). I also couldn't resist a small Jack/Tosh scene at the end.
(I'm desperately waiting for someone to write the epic Jack/Tosh story that's just dying to be written.)

Someone to Watch Over Me - Angel/DW
I had a lot of fun writing this one, though it got a little sluggish around the end. However, as it was my first time writing Cordelia, I thought it turned out pretty good. It has Cordelia and the Doctor (Ninth), with strong references to S5 of Angel, explaining 'that' episode...you know which one I mean.

Yes, I'm pimping my own stuff, but that's allowed - it's my journal. :)

And the fic-a-thons are done!! Yay!! (If I decide to do any more in the next six months, somebody smack me, please.)

And on that note, it's time to pimp the latest (and last) fic-a-thon....
Lonely Tarts Club presents the John/Vala Thing-a-thon

I wrote a quick fic that I didn't put as much effort into as I should have...found here or here.

Head on over to [livejournal.com profile] lonelytartsclub for all sorts of yummy John/Vala goodness. I'm especially enamoured of [livejournal.com profile] pentapus's entry, but I may be biased. (She's also the one who drew chibi!Vala and chibi!John you see in the banner - aren't they adorable?):)

Again, just to recap - no more fic-a-thons for me. For at least six months. Period.

Title: Home is Where?

Rating: PG
Pairing: Vala/John

Do you like Stargate: Atlantis? Are you in desperate need of loooooong fic to curb your boredom?

Well, it's finally here. [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!! Or, you know, open for reading. Still, it's there. There's fic and LOTS of it.
(Only if you like Sheppard/McKay, apparently, as I don't think I've come across any of the other pairings that were offered up as prompts.)

However, there's fic.

If you're wondering what I'm going on about, [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang was a writing challenge-type fic-a-thon to end all fic-a-thons. You got a list of prompts and 3 pairings to choose from (1 slash, 1 femslash, 1 het).

Then you had to write at *least* 40,000 words. You heard me. **40,000** words!!!

There is over 800,000 words of PLOT-filled fic available. It's here -> SGA BigBang <- if you want to go look.

Unfortunately, I can't immerse myself in fic this week. I have parents coming to visit (which means cleaning this hole I live in), I have to find *something* to do at work that doesn't involve screwing around on the internet all day and I have fic burning a hole in my mind....wait, that didn't come out right. I have fic to write. And I can't do any of that, if I'm sucked into an *epic saga* of Atlantis being cut off from Earth.

And I really, really want to. Cause really, those 5-12 stories are just begging to be read. Begging I tell you!!

fic rec!!

I've been spending some time over at [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon, because, well...apocalypse and all.

There have been several really good fics, in a multitude of categories. I'm actually surprised at the number of West Wing fics. There are a multitude of fandoms that have had their worlds destroyed, including Stargate, Eureka, Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, Doctor Who (Old Who) and X-files. There are even a few Firefly.

However, there's also one I'd like to point out, for purely gratuitous reasons:
It's Already Tomorrow in Australia (or Win Some, Lose Some, H7, N1) by [livejournal.com profile] amand_r
Fandom: Dead Like Me
Why: Excellent characterization, nothing too graphic, sounds just like the show and very realistic.

Why#2: Because it was written for me!! (And in case you think I'm weird/over reacting, just remember that this is the first fic I've gotten through a fic-a-thon. Yes, out of the many fic-a-thons I've written for this year, this is the first time I've gotten something back. But I'm not bitter. Really.)

Now, off to write the [livejournal.com profile] dw_cross pinch hit I agreed to. :)

Entry for the [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon fic-a-thon. (ie. APOCALYPSE!!!)

Title: Cry Havoc
Author: lyl ([livejournal.com profile] lyl_devil)
Fandom: NCIS
Rating: PG-15 (for a swear word or two)
Pairing: none
Warnings: none
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] storydivagirl
Request: I like the idea of the Yellowstone Caldera, so let's try that. I would love Gibbs/DiNozzo.
Summary: “It's going to be a good day.” “Do you remember when we would say that and actually mean it?”
Notes: Sorry this wasn't Gibbs/DiNozzo. You can think of it as pre-slash if you want - if you squint and turn your head sideways. :)
Notes2: Beta'ed by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] idontlikegravy, who helped me find an end to the fic-that-would-not-end-in-a-reasonable-manner.

First, the author must vent:

OMG! I just wrote 5400 words of Faith and Sheppard – AND NO ONE ELSE!!!
It's the 'Faith and Shepppard Show'!!
I need a hug!

This is the danger of pimping fic-a-thons where I can read them.

I just signed up for not one, but TWO fic-a-thons.

Somebody stop me. PLEASE??

(In case you're interested, they were [livejournal.com profile] sg_btvs and [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon - I really need to be stopped.)
