The internet has gone crazy overnight. Well, more than normal, anyway.

The LJ thing has been Farked, BoingBoinged, Slashdotted and more. To see a full list, visit here.

Also, the FanLib thing has been Slashdotted, as well.

We finally got a response in the [livejournal.com profile] news, and if you want to comment you'd better do it soon - the comment count at the time I posted this was around 4600. Look down the list to the previous posts, and see that the next 2 are maxed out on comments, and the third is about halfway there.

[livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts is at 25000+, which is made of the awesome!

For reference, I have a GJ and InsaneJournal accounts, both under 'emeraldspider'. I took this as an opportunity to change my username. Go over, friend me, and I'll friend you back. There's not much at either of those sites, but I'll work on that when I get home. So far, I'm liking IJ more than GJ, simply because it seems to be faster. It's not completely free like GJ - you can buy paid and permanent accounts for cheaper than LJ - but GJ seems to be clunkier and slower to load.

I'll start transferring fic over there at some point, but I spent most of last night working on changing my resume into a fairly decent CV - Berlin, here I come (I hope)!!!

[livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts - where people from all over fandom stand up to be counted. All you have to do is join, nothing else. It's just a means to count the number of LJs that are involved in fandom in some way. Currently, over 6500 members, and rising!

Also, we're at 2300+ comments on the LJnews (51 pages!!). Go over and add you're voice to those demanding answers - we're trying to see if we can break the 5000 comment limit.

If you want to keep up to date, or just a watchful eye on the latest news on the WFI front, someone made a community - [livejournal.com profile] innocence_jihad.

Lastly, I'm thinking of flocking my personal posts. Not my fic, or anything I post for 'interesting' reasons, but with recent events throwing LJ and fandom into the spotlight, I'm not so secure in my anonymity any more. I think I've done a pretty good job of keeping my real name out of my fandom life (it's too unique and recognizeable), but I don't think I'm willing to take the chance any more.

So it seems LJ users are demanding answers about the widespread account deletion/suspension. They're not letting LJ admin get away with silence, either.

In LJ news, on the most recent post, the comments start mid-way through page 6, sometime last night. They're now onto page 21!!

In most cases, it's paid account users demanding answers and announcing their intentions to either leave LJ or go back to a basic account.

LJ doesn't have to worry about lawsuits losing them money, this alone is making them loose more than they thought.

Wait....it's now up to page 22!! (Through the course of writing this post - that's how upset people are!)

Check it out HERE!!
(I feel bad for the person who wrote this, because I'm sure their email inbox is nearing max - if not already there.)

(Also, my comment on the idiotic WFI blog still hasn't 'made it through moderation' even though many time-stamped after I posted mine, have. Suspicious? I think so, because I'm not the only one who's noticed it, either.)

ETA: Now up to page 28 (at 3:16 pm).

Fandom just can't seem to get away from the wank these past few weeks. For those of you watching as journals suddenly go friends-only, and don't know why, I'll explain.

Or rather, I'll link.
Liz Marcs - here

I'm SO ticked off about this, that there aren't really words. Well, there are, but I won't use them. Instead, for the first time, I posted a snark-filled comment to the people behind this massive LJ user/community deletion. There will hopefully be no trackbacks, cause I would hate to turn this journal into a cesspit of angry rhetoric and illogical fallacies.

I *was* going to post the comment I wrote, and see if they'd edit much of it before posting (it's moderated commenting), but I stupidly closed the window, and then copied the link from [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs journal, thus overriding my clipboard. *headdesk*

But in summary - it was snarky and pissy - but no foul language was used, and I was fairly polite.

What can I say, I have headache (not tired enough to go to bed yet), and half my flist is either flocking their entire journal or looking for ways to back it up in case 4+ years of entries get deleted. (LJ Abuse is not intending to undelete anything, from what I can tell.)

I now have a tag for 'stupid wank' - that's how annoyed I am!

ETA: In case this didn't come across in my rant, LJ Abuse is suspending a variety of user and comm journals, based on the interests listed. Currently the most common interests are 'incest', 'pedophilia' and the like - though there is once case of 'beating people up'. (These are mostly interests listed for fictional characters in RPGs (villains) and various porn comms.) To be safe, I'd edit my interests of anything non-generic, because LJ Abuse is not looking at content, just listed interests. And there's no getting the journal un-suspended, either. Check out [livejournal.com profile] seperis for a running list of what's been deleted/suspended and what's happening around LJ and the like.
