That's right everybody, it's that time of year - time for the APOCALYPSE! Or APOCALYPSES...apocalypsi?

Whatever. It's [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon posting time, where writer's end the world in as many ways as only fandom can imagine.

I've only been through a handful of them, but here are some recs for the good ones...
(Do I really need to warn you all about the rampant death and angst to be found in most of these?)

Bodily Atrocities of the New Millenium by [livejournal.com profile] spoonyriffic - NCIS/House
Ever wanted House and Gibbs to meet? Well, here it is. Beware the Gibbs/DiNozzo, if you can't stand that ship.

When You Are Done by [livejournal.com profile] perryvic - SPN
This one has great character voices, and uses the women found in the series throughout the whole story. Part of the whole 'Lazarus'-thing sort of tweaked me wrong (it felt very self-indulgent/Mary Sue-ish at points), but the characters were written so well I got over it pretty quick. (The Bella-Jo bits are just great fun to read!) I don't think I need to warn for severe religious overtones in this, as this is all about the Heaven/Hell apocalypse the show's been leading up to this last year.

Killing Time in the Shade by [livejournal.com profile] caitn - NCIS
This one was pitch-perfect NCIS. It was a fun, humourous fic that was NCIS to the core.

Apocalypse Now and Then by [livejournal.com profile] monimala - The Middleman
I have been waiting forever to read some good MM fic, and this one didn't disappoint. Wendy was her usual unflappable self (mostly), MM was alternately calm and chagrined (and quite a bit of blushing, too), and Ida is her glorious, insulting, post-menopausal robot self. And the apocalypse is a perfect MM apocalypse, complete with improbable bad "guys" that destroy good cliches.

I'll post more of the good ones as I read them! Enjoy!

This is the beta-ed version of the fic I wrote for the 2008 [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon. Please send cookies and cheese to my lovely beta for dealing with my last minute histrionics. :D

Title: Dogs of War
Author: Lyl ([livejournal.com profile] lyl_devil)
Rating: R (or A for apocalypse)
Warning: Apocalypse
Words: 4738
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7
Disclaimer: I don't own NCIS or the characters, I only play in their sandbox.
Summary: Gibbs had seen many things in his life, but this was a first.

Notes: Companion piece to Cry Havoc, which was written for apocalyptothon. It's not necessary to have read it first, just know that Yellowstone National Park is a supervolcano that erupted.

Also, I've now given it a name, as it is officially a series, called New World.

Title: Five Things Gibbs Taught DiNozzo That Have Changed Since the Eruption
Author: lyl ([livejournal.com profile] lyl_devil)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters, I'm just playing in their sandbox.
Summary: Gibb's Rules...
Warning: This is from my apocalypse-verse (though there's nothing very graphic), so if you don't want to read something about the 'end of the world', avoid this universe.

Note: This is from the same universe as Cry Havoc. It will make very little sense unless you've read that.
Note2: The 'rules' were taken from the NCIS Wiki.

Entry for the [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon fic-a-thon. (ie. APOCALYPSE!!!)

Title: Cry Havoc
Author: lyl ([livejournal.com profile] lyl_devil)
Fandom: NCIS
Rating: PG-15 (for a swear word or two)
Pairing: none
Warnings: none
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] storydivagirl
Request: I like the idea of the Yellowstone Caldera, so let's try that. I would love Gibbs/DiNozzo.
Summary: “It's going to be a good day.” “Do you remember when we would say that and actually mean it?”
Notes: Sorry this wasn't Gibbs/DiNozzo. You can think of it as pre-slash if you want - if you squint and turn your head sideways. :)
Notes2: Beta'ed by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] idontlikegravy, who helped me find an end to the fic-that-would-not-end-in-a-reasonable-manner.
