A little while ago, [livejournal.com profile] reena_jenkins asked if she could make my SPN/DA fic 'Familia Infortunium' into a podfic.

I said yes.

Then [livejournal.com profile] bessyboo made it into a podbook, complete with cover art.

It is totally fantastic!

Check it out here: Podbook: Familia Infortunium

Go. Look. Listen. Then tell these amazing people how amazing they are.

So we all have these stories in our head that you just know will be supremely awesome. You know you'll never write it yourself because you know for a fact that you will never do the idea justice, and it's going to be awesome or lame, with nothing in between, and you know you won't be able to reach awesome.

I'm talking about those story ideas that we all have, where we can't believe no one else has written it yet. You know in your heart that if it hasn't been written yet, then someone, somewhere, has got to be writing it, you just have to find it. (It's the only hope you cling to, because you seriously cannot be the only one in fandom who can see the potential.)

This is the Mythical Holy Grail of Fic.

Amazingly, I have found one.
(Yes, this is all prelude to a fic rec of awesome.)

I Lie, I Cheat, I Steal (and I Just Don't Get Any Respect) by fiercelydreamed
Leverage/White Collar - do I need to go into more detail? Really?
Summary: "All right," Nate says, and smacks his hands together. "Let's go steal a con artist."

It's Hardison POV, and I think they were spot on with his characterization, including all the geeky computer references I just know he uses in his internal monologue. There's some light threesome undertones, but otherwise gen. And completely awesome. (Have I mentioned that yet?)

Also, Parker!!

I would totally love to see a sequel coming, but overall I think it's better as a standalone - you can choose the ending of the caper yourself. Though I wouldn't pass up some Team-Burke-meets-Team-Leverage hijinks.

Go. Read. Marvel at the Awesome!

My first foray into World of Warcraft is about to come to a very quick and very inglorious end, unless someone can tell me how the hell to get a quest out of the guy with an exclamation mark over his head!!

Seriously! I got nothin' here, people, and it's pissing me off.

(Yes, I am this helpless. Somebody needs to take pity on me here!)

ETA: Figured it out. It really was that stupid, and made me feel like a tool. *facepalm*

Don't know if the girls are still leaving, but if they are - this show will be going down the tubes.

Wow.

It's really amazing that you can get that much into 3000 words. That takes some real talent.

Alright, let's test this out!

You know the Canadian film industry is going to crap when you turn on your tv and see an ING commercial starring Lexa Doig.
lyl_devil: (Default)
You're all morons.

Smashing store windows and setting police cars on fire is a great way to protest poverty. Not. It's also not even a remotely good way to protest global warming, as the chemicals from that burning car are likely doing more harm than you could ever do good - which, granted, isn't a lot.

Also, I've sussed out that most of you aren't Canadian.

I say this because only Canadians are allowed to disrespect Toronto this way. And only if it's hockey-related. (But even then, we don't resort to vandalism on a grand scale - it's more drunken tom-foolery rather than purposeful destruction of property.)

In conclusion - you're all morons.

Me

(PS - All those OPP officers holding the riot lines: you don't get paid nearly enough for this shit, but I'm glad you're out there anyway.)

(Quake originated at the Ontario-Quebec border.)

Best comment EVER (via Twitter):

So that's what happened, Quebec's finally separating!

(Additional: Two tornadoes touched down in Southern Ontario. Bad day to be in this province.)

We just had an earthquake in Ottawa. Stuff came off the walls.

Seriously, What. The. Hell?

The last earthquake was over 20 yes ago (ish).

ETA: It was a 5.5 or 5.7 (depending on who you believe). Again: What. The. Hell?!?!

So [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine just saw The A-Team and wasn't impressed. Really, the entire review can be summed up in this:

You know when you read a romance novel or a fanfic where a male protagonist is a spy/SEAL/pilot/part of a professional organization with a lot of training and lingo and procedure and the author totally makes that shit up because it's totally not the point and she's too lazy to hit up Google when she's got three sex scenes to write? That was this, except with explosions instead of orgasms.... and they faked the orgasms.

(This is why I read her fic, people!)

Any other opinions on the movie? Cause I was looking forward to seeing it.

Enjoy!

First off: No. I do not have my thesis written.

Second: Yes, I am making my way back to LJ.

I have discovered that writing a thesis is boring. BORING!!! It is the most godawful, horrible, single most annoying thing I have ever had to write, and I don't like it. It truly sucks. I have been finding any excuse under the sun to avoid writing the damn thing, even knowing that the sooner it's written, the sooner I can stop being a poor, underpaid slave labour graduate student, and go on to being a poor, broke, unemployed member of society.

For your reference (because I know you're all just dying to know), here's some of what I've been doing the past few months.

1) Not writing my thesis.
2) TA-ing a course that involves far too many dissections of organisms I can't stand to look at, let alone touch. (Such as squid, giant grasshoppers, fetal pigs, cockroaches, centipedes, etc... ::shudders::)
3) Started knitting up a storm to avoid writing my thesis.
4) Downloading every tv show that captured my attention for 5 minutes.
5) Became addicted to the GeeksOn podcast - partially due to the fact that one of the guys is/was a recurring character on Numb3rs.
6) Sleeping late. Very late. Like, 'my days have flipped' late.
7) Avoiding my thesis supervisor as much as humanly possible, lest he ask how my thesis is going.
8) Discovered my absolute love of Timothy Olyphant - I'm loving Justified, am slowly downloading Deadwood, and considering getting in to Damages to watch his 13 episodes.
9) Finally got around to watching Band of Brothers - I LOVE!!!
10) Ended up writing the sequel to THIS (and is now waiting for me to send to a beta).
11) Started a cracked-out '5 crossovers Immortal!Kate will never know', and mostly finished the next Barista fic.
12) Avoided writing my thesis.
13) Read far too many apocafics, giant crossovers, bad HP fics and even worse SGA fics.
14) Played Xbox. Played Spore. Played Civilizations. Played with my shiny new iPod Touch.
15) Searching for a job for when I inevitably finish school.
16) Did anything and everything to avoid writing my thesis.

Does anyone see a pattern here? Yeah. I'm a slacker. And I really, really don't want to write my thesis. (Have I mentioned it's boring?)

So, since I've been sort of MIA these past few months... How is everyone else doing?
