So, for about 2 weeks solid in June, I debated goind to WriterCon 2006. I had a fabulous time 2 years ago, and soooo want to go again. However....I just started a new job. And while taking time off wouldn't have been a problem, the money would have been (as in, I didn't really have any, and was reluctant to truly kill my credit cards). ARGH!!!
To make matters worse, I stupidly keep looking at
writercon journal, where everyone is making plans and talking about it.......I just can't seem to help myself. It also doesn't help that references to WriterCon keep popping up all over LJ - making me want to go even more.
Being responsible sucks!!
I guess I'll just drown my sorrows in my newly acquired copies of Magnificent-7 (Season 1) and Pretender (Season 4). And if I can free up the hard drive space, I'll download MI-5/Spooks (Seasons 2 & 3).
What fun I'll have this weekend instead of sweating my ass off in Atlanta.
That was sarcasm, for the uninitiated...
sigh

Date: 2006-07-21 01:30 am (UTC)I was there two years ago, too, and it was one of the most enjoyable times I've had, ever. The people were great, the panels were fun, and it was just so wonderful to be able to talk with people about fanfic.
I was planning on going this year, even paid the money and registered, but between the health crap and my work problems, I just couldn't pull it off. Like you said, being responsible sucks. Big time.
I'm on the writercon LJ community and it's just like a kick in the head every time I see a post from someone. I should just unsubscribe (or leave the community, or whatever it is you're supposed to do) but I just keep tormenting myself with it.
This weekend's my birthday, so I'll be plenty busy. But I'd rather have been plenty busy in Atlanta :-(

Oh well. Lets hope we can go to the next one (if there is one *crosses fingers*).
