Apparently it's not being released on DVD until later in Feb, but there are already DVDRips available if you do that sort of this. (Which is how I found it.) :)
I didn't know you didn't know. I'll be mentioning it when my copy of the movie arrives. I pre-ordered it about a month ago. It's getting shipped on February 23rd.
Not a very flattering review here (http://www.collider.com/dvd/reviews/article.asp?aid=10675&tcid=3). No idea how justified it is. Anyone seen it yet via a rip?
Just read the review and I have to confess, it was spot on. They described the problems with the movie a lot better than I could, but they were right on target.
I know. I usually don't like to agree with reviewers, because often I like/dislike different things, but this one was right on the money. Especially about Daisy. The new actress really didn't have the look or the feel of the original, and every scene with her ended up feeling 'wrong'.
LMAO! I thought you knew! Must've been someone else who told me about it.
Honestly, I wasn't bowled over by it. I don't want to post any spoilers in case you haven't seen it yet, but yeah, it was similar to the show, but IMO didn't quite strike all the right notes.
My thoughts (relatively spoiler free for anyone reading this who hasn't seen it): 1) I want the old Daisy back. 2) I was more interested in the sister/mother storyline than the reaper storyline (this is a first). 3) George was lacking the same biting sarcasm from the show, but that may be a sign of her growing as a person. 4) Mason and Roxie are still the best.
If I get bored, I may do a post on this, but this is essentially my entire review. It was maybe a 3/5.
Yeah, I really didn't like the Daisy they cast. Better to have just left her off, or put a new character in there. I understand that a new character might have been a problem with the plot they came up with, but honestly, I had problems with the plot, too. I mean I can see Mason and Daisy being seduced by the idea of breaking the rules, but Roxie? I don't care what you offer her, I don't see her doing that.
I agree - I thought the family storyline was the most compelling part, and I'm glad that Reggie and George finally got some closure to their relationship. But otherwise, the whole thing was sort of a disappointment.

Date: 2009-02-03 02:05 am (UTC)As far as I know, it's straight to DVD. I didn't get into the show until after it was canceled, but think it's brilliant.
